Our Purpose
Understanding the Identity of IMPACT SRO
What is IMPACT SRO?
IMPACT SRO is a “School Safety Engagement & Analytics Platform" built for the use of school districts to collect IMPACT ratings of School Resource Officers (SROs). It provides schools with a two-way bridge between the SRO and the campus community—something that normally exists only through informal interactions or crisis moments.
The input from the data collected will assist greatly in efforts to strengthen school safety and provide SROs with the tools and knowledge they need to better serve the students, teachers, campus staff, and school district.

Why IMPACT SRO?
In light of the numerous tragedies involving mass shootings in public, charter and private schools across the nation, discussions and proposals to enhance school safety—particularly regarding the potential for increased armed security and law enforcement presence—have intensified. School districts have responded promptly with various implementations; however, over the years, they have lacked clear guidelines to assess the effectiveness of these newly introduced personnel.
To address this gap, IMPACT SRO was established to gather insights directly from the sources (students, teachers, campus staff, etc.) it serves, identifying successful strategies and areas for improvement. The data collected by IMPACT SRO will be invaluable to law enforcement and security organizations, as well as to administrators of independent school districts, enabling them to evaluate successes and implement necessary improvement strategies.
Our Value
Safety & Security Benefits
Proactive Threat Identification – Students and staff can confidentially share concerns about suspicious behavior, bullying, safety hazards, or mental health crises before they escalate.
Real-Time Communication – Direct channel to the SRO bypasses bureaucratic delays, which can be critical in emergencies.
Data-Driven Safety Improvements – Aggregated reports and ratings help administrators identify recurring safety patterns and address weak points.

Trust & Relationship Building
SRO Impact Measurement – Quantifies whether the SRO is truly connecting, mentoring, and protecting—beyond just enforcing rules.
Student & Staff Engagement – Gives them a voice in campus safety decisions, which increases buy-in and reduces the “us vs. them” perception.
Transparency & Accountability – Administrators have clear evidence of the SRO’s campus presence and contributions.
***IMPACT SRO targets a real gap in the way schools measure and improve school safety culture. Here are some examples of our value in practical and measurable terms: .***
Compliance & PR Value
Demonstrable Compliance – Supports district safety plan requirements and federal/state mandates (in some states, there are grants tied to measurable community engagement from SROs).
Positive Public Image – Shows parents and the community that the school values safety, mentorship, and open communication.
Grant Funding Opportunities – Districts could potentially use safety grant money to pay for your platform.

School resource officers play a crucial role in inspiring students to strive for excellence. They can organize events, lead discussions on important topics, and share their own experiences to motivate students to set and achieve their goals. The Essential Role of School Resource Officers
P
rotect
The primary duty of a school resource officer is to ensure the safety of the school environment. This includes monitoring the campus, responding to incidents, and developing safety protocols. Their presence helps deter negative behaviors and creates a secure space for learning.

School resource officers advocate for the needs and rights of students. They work to ensure that all students feel safe and supported, and they may collaborate with school staff, parents, and community organizations to address issues affecting students’ well-being. Their advocacy extends to promoting inclusivity and equality within the school.

Building connections is vital in a school setting. School resource officers engage with students, staff, and families to create strong relationships. They may organize community outreach programs or participate in school events, enhancing communication and fostering a sense of belonging among students.

Education is a fundamental part of the school resource officer's role. They can lead workshops on topics such as conflict resolution, personal safety, and the law, empowering students with knowledge that helps them make informed decisions. Teaching is not just about imparting facts but also about instilling values such as respect and responsibility.

Training Opportunities
***Here are some strategies IMPACT SRO can implement to initiate and/or improve training opportunities for school resource officers and employees of the district.***
Collaborative Training Programs
-
Partner with Teachers & Staff members: SRO's can collaborate with educators, para-professionals, and all other staff members to provide comprehensive training that addresses various aspects of school safety in relation to the roles they serve.
-
Peer Learning: Implement mentorship programs where experienced SROs can train newcomers, sharing best practices and lessons learned.
Scenario-Based Training
-
Realistic Simulations: Conduct training sessions using scenario-based exercises that replicate potential or previously experienced school emergencies, allowing SROs to practice their response strategies in a controlled environment.
-
Feedback Sessions: After scenarios, hold debriefing sessions to discuss what worked, what didn’t, and how to improve.
Mental Health and Wellness
-
Mental Health Training: Provide training on recognizing and responding to mental health issues in students, including de-escalation techniques.
-
Self-Care Programs: Implement wellness programs for SROs to ensure they are mentally and physically prepared for their roles.
Evaluation and Adaptation
-
Regular Assessment: SRO's can continuously assess the effectiveness of training programs through surveys and feedback from the learners, educators, and staff members of the district.
-
Adapt Training: Use feedback to adapt and improve training programs, ensuring they remain relevant and effective.
***By implementing these strategies, IMPACT SRO can enhance the skills and effectiveness of school resource officers, ultimately leading to a safer and more supportive school environment.***
